Last summer, I was invited to participate in a storytellng workshop and showcase called Define: BLACK at the Centre For Social Innovation. I joined 14 chocolate wonders to discuss and share stories about life in a post-Ferguson society. During the fruitful discussion that day, I spoke briefly about the stress of writing about racial injustice(s) and explaining matters of race to hard-headed, oblivious melanin-lacking persons who excel at inspiring stress in those they encounter.
In the storytelling showcase that followed, I shared a letter I wrote that day to my nieces, warning them of the bullshit ahead, "Dear TJ and Bean: On Dealing With Badge-Wearing Cretins and Troglodytes."
