7 Questions for Nubian Drifter

The wonderful folks at Nubian Drifter (Vaughn and Tnoëly) asked me to open up about my move to Panamá soon after I arrived here. I've shared some insights on life here so far, but in the following interview, I go a little more in depth on my feelings about travel and my motivation for this journey. This is, of course, my first video ever, so......don't be cruel, mmkay?

  2. Saludos Brother, First and foremost I have to shout you out on your blog! This is great and it really hit home for me. My name is Javier and I'm Panamanian-American(very similar to you as you described in your blog) my father and his family is from Colon, but I was raised stateside in Texas. Just as you explained I have always had special, but distant(yet so close) connection to the country and culture of our people. I was also never spoon fed spanish (and always wanted to talk w/my cousins when they came here) growing up like other hispanic groups, but I tried my best to do what I could and can.

When I went to Panama in May of this year I had a moment in Tocumen like I'm here, this is where I'm from--la patria mia..orgullso de ser panameno

I am planning on making the move to Panama myself to become fluent in spanish estilo panameno..jaja and search my roots(Jan or Feb '11 gotta catch carnaval..lol) and make it how I can, but more than likely teaching english.

Just stopping through and shouting you out on this blog because this the first blog i've seen like this about Panama(colored boy..I had to stop through because I knew it was a brother..lol)

I wish you nothing, but the best brother and I hope you accomplish everything you set out to do in Panama!!

    Respect- Javier
